Bonuses and wagering

The headline number is the least informative part of any offer. Three other figures decide whether it is worth taking.

A bonus is a loan against your turnover. The terms describe the interest.

Four numbers, not one

The four figures that decide an offer
FigureWhat it meansWhat to watch for
Headline percentageHow much bonus credit you receiveThe number used to advertise, and the least binding
Wagering multipleTurnover needed before withdrawalApplied to bonus only, or deposit plus bonus — a large difference
Game weightingHow much each stake counts toward the requirementSome titles count at a fraction, or not at all
Withdrawal capThe most you can take out from bonus playA low cap can make a large bonus worth less than a small one

If any of the four is missing from the terms page, that is itself the answer.

Worked example: a 300% bonus of RM300 at 25x on deposit plus bonus means RM10,000 of turnover, with a withdrawal cap that may sit at RM500. A 50% bonus of RM50 at 10x on bonus only means RM500 of turnover. The second offer is smaller and better.

When to decline a bonus

Declining is a real option and is often the right one, particularly on a first deposit with an operator you have not tested.

Without a bonus, your balance is yours: you can play a little, request a withdrawal, and find out whether the operator actually pays before committing more. With a bonus, the balance is locked behind a turnover requirement, and you learn nothing about the payout process until you have already put several thousand ringgit through the client.

Testing the withdrawal first is worth more than any welcome offer.

Bonus questions

What is a wagering requirement?

The turnover you must put through before a bonus or its winnings can be withdrawn. At 20x on a RM100 bonus, that is RM2,000 staked.

Is a 300% bonus better than a 100% one?

Not on its own. The headline percentage means nothing without the wagering multiple, the game weighting and the withdrawal cap.

Can a bonus be impossible to clear?

Yes, and it is common. A high multiple combined with a low withdrawal cap can make the expected value negative even when you clear it.

Should a beginner take the welcome bonus?

Often not. Playing a first deposit without a bonus keeps the balance withdrawable and avoids terms that lock it.
